Associated Supermarkets is a retailers' cooperative of grocery stores based in New York City. Its stores are in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island, and New Jersey.
In 2001, Associated Supermarkets and Gristede's stopped advertising in the Daily News after the paper ran a series of articles critical of the grocery stores' cleanliness.[1] [2]
In 1995, officials of a meatpackers' union were accused of extorting bribes from RBG Management, a member company of Associated.[3]
